The crosses in our life are an opportunity to place our hope in Jesus.
God’s grace builds on our nature. If we uproot those weeds in our lives, or better yet allow God the true gardener to make our soul orderly and wonderful, our interior life will resemble a nicely kept lawn.
Springtime is growth time. Which area do we personally need to grow? If we take a look at the four cardinal virtues and three theological virtues, I am sure we can identify one or two that would be good for us to water and nurture.
The Resurrection had the final say.
Do we have control over our feelings, or do they have inordinate power over us? As Victor Frankl once wrote, in a paraphrase: “Between stimulus and response, we have the freedom to choose.”
Food gone bad, salt that loses its taste, how can it be recovered? But if it loses its taste, what is it good for? Yet Jesus reminds us not to lose hope. He brings a good out of anything.
I’d like to share what I learned from my 31st year.
Let’s celebrate and embrace every sincere attempt at a fresh start, especially our own ones. Whether this particular attempt fizzles out or not, our effort to begin anew is a noble act of faith in the ultimate yet already present victory of Jesus. We will one day succeed because he has already succeeded.
Hobbies and playful games are needed, where we can enjoy the pleasure of puzzle making and competition without the pressure we put on ourselves (or others).
