Helping The Future Self

How will our future-selves thank us tomorrow?

One evening I spoke with my fiancée over the phone. It was getting late and I mentioned that I needed to pack my lunch. I said that my future-self would thank me if I did that. So I packed some lunch: veggies, cheese, and meat, with some fruit. It took maybe five minutes to prepare. Then I got ready for bed.

The next morning, I wasn’t as rushed. I had time to do a small workout, pray, and then get ready for my day. I was more prepared by having my lunch already packed. My future self thanked me! Good job Trevor, you’re a boss.

That’s it! Do today what can help for tomorrow. It takes a little discipline, although it is worth it. This reminds me to be proactive. Because the important things aren’t urgent. And when we fail to help our future self, do the important things not become urgent? Do we not feel more rushed and stressed?

I am not always perfect at helping my future self. But it is a good reminder to help them. My future self can get healthier, richer, and stronger, if I ask this question every now and then:

What can I do today that will help my future self?
