This painting was inspired by God’s mercy for everyone, including those in the throes of addiction. I see these people suffering near my downtown studio space, but I’m reminded that Christ did for all, and no one is too far gone. “The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Unbind him, and let him go’” (John 11:44).

Life is really hard sometimes, and we can feel like it’s without hope. I painted a weeping Virgin Mary as a reminder that as our spiritual mother, she cares for us, as does God. She feels our pain and our suffering, because she too experienced great grief in watching her son experience His passion. This painting was inspired by Dieric Bouts’ Mater Dolorosa. The original work is 11×14 inches, oil on linen canvas.

One of my first oil paintings, it’s a scene of the rising sun. It signified a challenging season when my wife and I grieved a significant loss in our family. During that time, my sister encouraged us before we travelled to Vancouver and Victoria, saying, “All will be well.” It’s a rendition of a photo I took of the sunrise before taking flight for our West Coast vacation. The size of the original work is 8 x 10 inches.

A recently completed oil painting commission of the mountains in Northern BC. I used a rendition of a photograph and my own imagination for the composition. I’m reminded of the strength and power of the mountains, as well as the rushing waters, running freely. The size of the original work is 8 x 10 inches.

One of my first commissions, this is a serene window composition, inspired by a photo my brother took in the Philippines. I prayed for the grace of peace while creating this scene, and palm trees and stylistic rocks were included. I used acrylic paint for this artwork, and the size of the original painting is 24 x 36 inches.
