There’s a lot of pressure in our fast-paced culture to prioritize doing over being. I see a business sentiment that prioritizes efficiency and productivity. Yes, those are very good things. Although let us not forget that people come before the program, and relationships matter more than results. Striving for goals and attaining them is a noble and grand venture. But it’s about the people, too. And we matter as individuals.
I listened to a podcast recently where American business executives and investors bragged about how many books they read (they actually listened to them via audiobooks). Some got up to 50 books a month. I wonder how their family life is going? Their important relationships at work and at home? Are they truly at peace with their lives?
In an episode by the Emotionally Healthy Leader podcast, Pete shares that the state we are in is the state we give. If we are focused too much on results, will we have the capacity to give our full selves in relationship? So let us root ourselves back in the emphasis of being more. Remember, who we are is so much more important than what we do.
